Montel Hale leads NJHS to win

Montel Hale only had eight touches, but made the most of them, scoring four touchdowns to lead North Jackson to a 60-7 rout of Douglas Friday night in a Region 7 contest. Hale caught four passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns, ran twice for 11 yards and a touchdown, and also returned two punts for 61 yards and a touchdown, all in the first quarter.

Will Richard was perfect in the contest, hitting 7-of-7 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns before giving way to junior Zac Barnard after the first quarter.

Barnard was 7-of-9 for 77 yards and two touchdowns in the second quarter before giving way to freshman Trent Chisenall who played the entire second half of the game.

Because North Jackson led 54-7 at the half, both head coaches agreed to play 8-minute quarters and only allow JVs to play in the second half. The North Jackson JVs picked up another score in the fourth quarter.

Montel Hale now has 31 catches for 593 yards and 14 touchdowns (19.1 YPC), and is the Chiefs' leading rusher with 230 yards on 29 carries (2 TDs), plus he is the leading punt returner with four returns for 159 yards and a TD, averaging 39.3 yards per return.

Will Richard has now completed 81-of-113 pass attempts for 1,307 yards and 25 touchdowns (2 interceptions), hitting 71.7% of his passes. As a team, the Chiefs have 30 passing touchdowns in six games.

The Chiefs will host Region 7 rival Guntersville next week at R.D. Hicks Stadium in Stevenson. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. Recommended Stories
