Christian Lombard | Offensive Tackle | Senior - #76
We moved Lombard from offensive tackle to guard in our rankings after our team at the Army Combine saw him. Hence, I was anxious to see him in action tonight, to see how he has developed since then. I saw a Christian Lombard who was in great shape and dominated the man across from him all night. The caveat is that he was going against a much smaller opponent, but what I could still take from it was that Lombard was moving well, playing with great balance and leverage and was finishing off blocks. With the rain and the running game clicking, I did not get to see him in pass protection much. Still, I would say he has the frame and the skills to play tackle, but the way he was run blocking, guard is a likely option.
Brian Bobek | Center | Junior - #51
Bobek had a nice showing. He is a 2011 kid receiving early recruiting interest from Iowa, where his dad played, Ohio State and others. He played both defensive tackle and center tonight, but I think his future is on offense. He has the right type of build for a center, standing roughly 6'2 and weighing 260-lbs. With a wet ball and field, he and his quarterback had no issues with the snap. Bobek showed his toughness and drive blocking ability, opening the way for tailback Evan Wright's record setting night. He has to continue to get bigger and stronger, but he is a solid, steady, fundamentally sound kid; just what you want from your center.
The prospect we were looking to watch for Schaumburg was junior scatback Shepard Little. However, he was not in uniform and we were informed that he was suspended indefinitely. To his credit, Little was with the team and ran the balls in and out and dried them for his quarterback. A good spring and summer and Little could still find himself on the college radar.
Video from the game will be up tomorrow.
