Prime Ticket Spotlight - Randall Telfer

Covina, Calif. - Last week's Prime Ticket game of the week featured Rancho Cucamonga against Charter Oak. The headliner in the game was USC tight end commitment Randall Telfer.

Telfer is a 4-Star rated prospect by Scout and ranked the 6th best tight end nationally.

He is relatively new to the game of football having begun his career as a freshman in high school. His outstanding athleticism at 6-4 and 230 pounds make him a terrific prospect, but he's also shown that he has quickly picked up the nuances of the game usually reserved for much more experienced players.

The best example of watching Telfer, the football player and not just Telfer the prospect, is his blocking ability. Players new to the game are rarely as good a blocker as Telfer. He uses his hands well, extends his arms, uses great leverage and keeps his feet moving to generate the angle to best move his defender in the direction Telfer wants him to go.

In the game against Charter Oak, Telfer has several terrific seal blocks where he not only holds the edge for the ball carrier coming on a sweep, but he manages to shield other pursuing tacklers as well.

By the way, he also takes a shovel pass 60 plus yards, showing off his speed as he's being pursued by Brandon Golden, a defensive back commitment to Washington State.
