Sam Bergen was look at as a prospect with huge potential as a sophomore at East Stroudsburg High School until he tore up his knee at the beginning of his junior year. He fully recovered from the injury and the Rutgers coaching staff looks to have landed a gem when he committed to them recently.

East Stroudsburg, Pa., native Sam Bergen was a big-name recruit as a sophomore, but after suffering a knee injury, many schools took the wait and see approach with him and frankly, waiting too long in our opinion. The 6-foot, 230-pound middle linebacker took a visit to Rutgers recently, was offered and then gave the Scarlet Knights a verbal commitment.

So far Bergen’s team is off to a 7-1 record and he has 70 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, eight sacks and has forced two fumbles in those eight games. Rutgers fans can enjoy watching him in action in his senior highlights below.
