Sam Keller To Sign With Arizona State

QB Sam Keller

When Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley quarterback Sam Keller committed early in the year to Michigan, it seemed like a perfect fit. After all, he had grown up following the Wolverines and his father Mike even played for the maize and blue.

However as the year went on, we had been hearing rumblings that Keller wasn't completely sold on Michigan. Rumors started leaking that he may have committed more for his father than for him and when he took a visit to Arizona State recently, all those rumors became fact.

Now the standout quarterback has had a change of heart and will sign later today with ASU.

"Yep, it's ASU," Keller's personal quarterback coach Roger Theder told Don Hoekwater of GoBlueWolverine.com. "It all came down to the visit. Sam really did not have a good time and got a little homesick at Michigan. He started thinking he wanted to be closer to home.

"ASU was always an interest to Keller and I think he'll do well under coach Dirk Koetter. Sam may have been a little intimidated by the strict academics of Michigan as well. At ASU he'll be able to concentrate more on football."

With the addition of Keller to go along with the Student Sports Elite 11 signal caller Michael Affleck, the Sun Devils can now boast the signing of two of the nation's top 15 quarterback prospects in our eyes.
