Michael Copeland collects new offer

Michael Copeland, two-star linebacker from Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Ga., still has a Sun Belt Conference school at the top of his wish list. He received his third offer this week from a school within the same conference.

"Last night Middle Tennessee called me," Michael Copeland stated. "I talked to Coach (Brent) Brock. He told me they liked my video. He said they were gonna go ahead and offer me. He said he'll come down here to meet with me sometime this winter."

"They're up there with FIU and the other schools right now. They're kinda in the middle with the rest of my leading schools. Florida Atlantic still has a slight lead. Other than that, nothing much has really changed."

Lowndes finished the regular season at 9-1, and ranked No. 4 in 5A. They will face East Coweta (7-3) this Friday in a first round matchup.

"We've got a game plan ready," he commented. "We need to contain No. 1 (East Coweta running back, Tay Willis). If we can do that, and not turn the ball over, we'll give ourselves a good chance to win. It's really as simple as that."

There are high expectations at Lowndes High School every year. Copeland, his Lowndes teammates, and the Lowndes fans, have one goal in mind every season.

"I wanna finish the season out with a ring," he said. "That's all of our goals on this team. I haven't seen a lot of laughing at practice in a long time. Everybody is taking things seriously. The entire town is starting to get serious. Our goal is to win it all."

Michael Copeland still plans to take official visits to Indiana and Georgia Southern. He will plan his remaining official visits after the season.
