"I've received a lot of mail this year," Marlandas Crane stated. "I've gotten mail from Georgia, Mississippi State, Clemson, and Iowa. Georgia has sent me the most mail so far. And one of my coaches talked about Alabama a few weeks ago. He said that Alabama asked about me." "I like the SEC. Hopefully I'll sign with an SEC school. If not, Georgia Tech would be a good choice, too. I like Georgia Tech more than any other school outside of the SEC." "I like Alabama the most. They're my favorite school. Then I like Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Clemson." The Crimson Tide already has a big lead for the West Georgia standout. "I like how they have big receivers," he commented. "I'm a big receiver myself. I kinda like the offense that they run, too. From what I've heard from my coach, they're real disciplined with their athletes. They have great coaches as far as I'm concerned. "If Alabama offered I think that I might commit. My coach has only great things to say about the coaches there. And great coaches produce great players. I won't say that I'd definitely commit, but I'd give it a strong thought." Crane is only a junior, and he may view recruiting differently later in the process. As of now, he'd like to play close to home. "I really wanna stay close to home," he commented. "Location will more than likely factor for me. I'm a very family-oriented guy. I never wanna be too far from home, but you never know what can happen. That could change down the road." Crane took in his first college game last weekend. "I went and visited Georgia Tech this past Saturday," he said. "It was a nice experience. That was my first college game. I would like to play in that type of environment. I'll be back there in a few weeks. I'll be back there when they play Georgia in a few weeks." The big wideout believes he has an all-around game. He also knows there's always room for improvement. "I'm best at catching the ball," he said. "I have really good hands. And I'm good with my body positioning. I'm able to block defenders out from getting the ball." "My two favorite routes are a post and a hitch. I like running post routes because I just like beating people deep. I like the hitch because I like to earn yards after the catch. Those are type of routes you have to run in crunch time. "I need to improve a little on my speed. You can never be too fast. My route running is solid. I need to improve on it a little, though. There's always room for improvement." Carrollton High School finished the regular season at 9-1, and ranked in the top 10 in 3A. They will face a good Creekview High School (9-1) team this Friday. Crane knows what he has to do to help his team win this game, and any potential playoff games beyond this one. "I want to get as many catches as I possibly can in this game," he said. "I also wanna concentrate on my blocking. My coaches always stress how important perimeter blocking is. "I'm looking forward to playing them. I know they're a good team. I like playing good teams. I get up for these type of games. I think we can come out with the win. We just have to watch out for turnovers. We cannot turn the ball over. "I think we have a great football team. I think it's good enough to make it to the big dance (state championship game). I'd like to finish up with 700 yards or more, by the end of the season. If I can get those kind of numbers, and make every block that I can on the perimeter, I'll be able to help us get to the big game." Crane not only excels on the football field, but also on the track. He has some goals for the upcoming track season. "In the triple jump I've gone 44'3," he said. "I did that last year as a sophomore. My best long jump is 21'6. I finished second in the region in the triple jump as a sophomore. I didn't get to finish the season last year. I was injured. "We have a great chance to win state in track. We finished fourth last year. I wanna win the state in the triple jump. If I can't win, I definitely wanna place." Stay tuned to Scout.com for all the latest news on Marlandas Crane.
