Clark finished the season with a disappointing 3-7 record, but one of the bright spots for the Bulldogs was the play of talented wide receiver Hakeem Parker.
Parker hauled in 45 passes for 784 yards and six touchdowns which were all team highs.
I had the chance to see Hakeem against Carver who is coached by former LSU running back Shyrone Carey.
During pre-game warm ups Parker has a very business like approach to the game despite all post season hopes being exhausted.
He is very deliberate in his route running and avoids rounding off corners after his cuts.
Hakeem is tremendous in the air. He fought double teams all night and was able to beat both defenders on jump balls for touchdowns. One of those scores was called back on an unrelated penalty.
He is a legitimate 6-4, 185 with room to grow. He has the frame to add more bulk and he can be a very physical receiver. His future appears to be outside the numbers as an X receiver.
His speed appears to be better than average. He is not getting caught from behind, but he is not leaving everybody either.
The bottom line is that Parker will be one to watch this spring and summer as the junior days and summer camps roll onto the calendar.
Hakeem can play.
