Matt Deiana, a 5-foot-7, 190-pound running back from Somers, N.Y., just grabbed his second scholarship offer from Army, is hearing from other FBS level schools and is trying to figure out what he'll do when it comes down to LOI day. "I just got offered by Army," Deiana said. "I visited Colgate last week and that's my favorite I-AA school. I'm going to Connecticut on Wednesday and am waiting to hear back from Maryland and Rutgers by the end of this week. Penn State told me they had no more offers for running backs, but liked my tape and invited me to walk on at the school." Deiana has been on varsity since he was an eight grader. As a freshman, he had 97 carries for 663 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. He had 11 kick returns for 317 yards, 16 tackles and an interception. As a sophomore, he carried 80 times for 702 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught two balls for 16 yards. On defense, he registered 42 tackles, five pass deflections and had a kick return for 39 yards. He played the entire season with knee and ankle injuries and missed the final two games with a broken collarbone. As a junior, he carried 54 times for 705 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns and returned three kickoffs for 78 yards. On defense, he made 45 tackles, sacked the quarterback twice and had 11 pass breakups. He played the last five games of his junior season with a dislodged vertebrae in his neck. As a senior, Deiana carried the ball 120 times for 1227 yards, 16 touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He also had seven catches for 103 yards. On defense, he had 51 tackles, seven sacks and a safety. He also returned five kickoffs for 193 yards and a touchdown. He played in nine games. Deiana benches 405 pounds, squats 600 pounds and has a 32-inch vertical leap.
