The 6' 1", 180 pound right handed quarterback out of Lamar (MS) helped his team to a 11-1 record, and they face Simpson Aca Friday in the third round of the playoffs.
"That is the team that beat us earlier this year," added
Witt Haggard
. "We have to go down there Friday. It should be a good match up."
Witt has put up some eye popping numbers as he has totaled 57 TD's and has only thrown 3 interceptions this fall.
"I feel good with my performances this season. I feel pleased with what I have done. I have made a couple bad throws but not many. I have had a real good year. I feel like I have gotten a good bit faster since last season and my decision making is better. I am making the right throws. As a team, I feel we have improved from last year, especially considering that we did not have any returning OL. I am really pleased with where we are as a team."
The Meridian native's junior season saw him throw for 3, 569 yards and 31 TD's. This year he has passed for 3, 332 yards and rushed for another 804. One would think that the college recruiter would be beating down his door but the lack of height and the league he is playing in has hurt his stock.
"I feel like they question me because of the private league we play in. I know where they are coming from to a degree, but I have feel I have done a good job and put up some good numbers. It is kind of frustrating not to get the looks you feel like you deserve."
Which colleges are looking Haggard's way?
"I have been talking to FIU once a week and Western Michigan came by my practice last week. That is about it other than East MS CC. They have been coming by some practices recently. Hopefully some more schools will start taking notice."
