Pomona (Calif.) lineman Deron Jefferson is taking his game from Southern California to Texas, having made his college decision last week.
"Deron committed to Coach (Mike) Price and UTEP," said Pomona head coach John Brown. "He and his dad talked to Coach Price and committed (Wednesday)."
The Miners grab an athletic, 6-6, 252-pound Jefferson, who also played defensive end for Pomona this season.
"They recruited him as an offensive tackle," said Brown.
Jefferson becomes the second Pomona prospect to commit, joining teammate Darrien Lewis, who committed to Eastern Michigan prior to the season starting.
During his senior year, he had 43 tackles, four sacks, three pass deflections and two forced fumbles.
