The 6' 3", 245 pound defensive end out of Lithonia inked with the Rebels last February but fell short on his ACT test. Now he is set to join the team in January in time for Spring practice. To learn more about Cameron Whigham, read below.

"I couldn't report to Ole Miss in August because I was not qualified through the NCAA clearinghouse," added Cameron Whigham. "I was short on my ACT test, but I retook it in September and made high enough to become a full qualifier. I was admitted by the clearinghouse recently, and I am going to report to Ole Miss January 4th. In the meantime, I have a job, and I have a gym membership through December. I am just going to stay in shape and be ready to go once I get up there."

The added time in the weight room has already paid dividends for the former 3-Star DE recruit.

"When I graduated last summer; I was about 6' 3", 230 but now I am up to 240-245. I have put on about 15 pounds. I have also added about 30 pounds in the three major lifts. I am benching around 350 now and I squat 515. I have increased my strength pretty good since I have been out of school."

When was the last time he spoke to someone from Ole Miss?

"I talked to Coach Price last night. He said he was excited that I got cleared and that it is not that much longer before I report. He wants me to get there on January 4th so I can get adjusted to everything during the Christmas break so I am ready to go when classes start in late January."

The Rebels are graduating three of the four rotation players they have at defensive end. This is added incentive for the former Shiloh (GA) star.

"It makes me even more focused because I see spots open. I feel like I am good enough to get one of those spots. Now I have to go out there and work extra hard in the spring so I can get some playing time in the fall and help the team win."

Whigham believes the Rebels have had a solid season this year and looks for even bigger things next Fall.

"I have enjoyed watching them play this year. I watch them on the TV regularly. They have had their up and downs, but overall, they are a good team and did some pretty good things this year. I think next year with Jevan being a senior we have a chance to maybe take it to the next level and get to Atlanta. I just can't wait to get started up there."
