Nermin Delic has quietly punished his competition this year. Schools have taken notice. The former Maryland commit had a change of heart and now plans to display his talents at the University of Kentucky. Go inside to read more.
"I decommitted from
Maryland
last night," stated the well spoken
Nermin Delic
. "I decided to commit to
Kentucky
."
Why did the talented Georgia athlete decide Kentucky was the right fit?
"The campus was nice. They have a solid foundation they are building on. I loved the stadium and they have a lot of fan support. I also wanted to play in the SEC. I think it's the best conference in college football. It was also closer. Distance played a huge factor."
What other schools offered Delic?
"I've been offered by Kentucky, Maryland,
Tulsa
,
East Carolina
,
Marshall
, MTSU, FIU,
Memphis
and a few others."
Where does Scout.com's # 44 TE project to play at the next level?
"They (Kentucky) are talking about trying both TE and DE. I will play both. I just want to get on the field as fast as I can and they are telling me I can play next year. I'm OK with playing either position."
Delic finished the season at Northwest Whitfield with 80 tackles, 8 sacks, 21 pressures, 9 tackles for loss, 2 blocked punts, and a 30 yard fumble return for a TD on defense. On offense he had 3 receptions for 50 yards with 2 TDs.
When asked what his greatest strength on the field was, the talented prep star didn't hesitate.
"My lateral range and physicality."
After seeing Delic play multiple times this year, I can't say I disagree. Delic was more visible on the defensive side of the ball. Teams attempted to double and triple team him but had little success. He has a motor that never ends and he clearly gives 100% every down. He is able to play sideline to sideline due to his lateral movement which keeps him in every play.
Delic had one final word for the UK faithful.
"They are going to get a player who will play his heart out and bring it every game."
