Florida CB meets with SEC school
Ricardo Allen saw his senior season come to an end with a loss to Deland in the second round of the state playoffs last Friday night. "I guess it just wasn't our year," Allen said. "We made a good run but it ended a lot sooner than we all expected it to. Oh well, I gotta move on now." Allen, 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, landed over 20 scholarship offers during the spring and summer before making a commitment to Purdue earlier this season. "I took a visit there and really enjoyed it," he said. "I liked the coaches and the opportunity I would have there." The standout corner said that commitment hasn't stopped other schools from recruiting him still. "Even after I committed I talked to Miami, I've been talking to Rutgers," he said. "He came to one of our games recently. West Virginia's been calling. The coach from Auburn came by yesterday and talked to me." Allen said he enjoyed that conversation a lot. "I like Auburn a lot," he said. "The coach was real cool and I like that school a lot. They don't have a lot of corners coming back and they almost beat Alabama so they're close to getting to the top. I'm very interested in them." Allen still has strong interest in a couple ACC schools as well. "One school I'd like to hear from is Virginia Tech," he said. "They put a lot of DB's into the league and I like how they play. And I still like Miami a lot. They haven't recruited me as much ever since I committed but I really like the coaches there and I really like that school." Inside the classroom Allen claims a 2.8 GPA and a 17 ACT score.
