All-Star Corner Has a Leader

Lionel Stokes has made the most of his chances at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. After a solid career on the prep level at East Marion High School, Stokes enrolled at Co-Lin where he grew as a player on and off the field. Now that his time in Wesson is over, Lionel will be moving on to the senior college level. He took his first official visit last weekend after the JuCo All Star game.

"I took a visit to Tennessee-Martin last week after the All-Star game," said Stokes. "That was my first visit. I am going to visit Western Michigan this weekend and I am going to visit Northwestern State some time too. UL-Lafayette is talking about a visit too, but we haven't set anything up."

All three of the schools hosting Lionel have offered and two other schools were talking offer before they had coaching changes.

"I have offers from Tennessee-Martin, Louisiana, North Texas, Western Michigan, Northwestern State and some SWAC schools," said Stokes. "I was talking a lot with Memphis and Louisville, but now they have new coaches there. I am not sure what is going on with them now."

With the mid year enrollment period looming, Stokes hopes to make his decision sooner rather than later.

"I am really looking for a winning program and a place I can go and play right away," said Lionel. "I like Western Michigan a lot and I am looking forward to that visit. They have a real good program and a good computer science program, that's what I plan to study.

"I am probably going to make a decision a week or two after the signing period starts."
