Tommy Pizzurro, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound offensive lineman from Hargrave Military Academy was recently named as the Offensive Lineman of the Year by Hargrave head coach Robert Prunty.
Quite an honor considering that he beat out high level D1 recruits like Johnnie Farms, Laurence Gibson and Terrence Hackney.
After receiving the honor Pizzurro went on to have a dominating performance at Hargrave’s annual prospect combine in front of 300 college programs.
At the combine Pizzurro benched 225 pounds 24 times, ran a 5.12 40-yard dash and posted 4.62 in the 5-10-5 pro-shuttle.
“I worked real hard this year,” Pizzurro stated.
So there is no wonder that the recruiting fervor is once again building up around Scout.com three-star OL.
“I am verbally committed to Kent State,” Pizzurro began. “I am going to be taking my official visit up there this weekend. Florida Atlantic just offered me and I have that in the back of my mind, because it is close to where I live (in Florida).”
“I am also hearing Memphis, Mississippi State, and Temple (offer).”
Pizzurro is committed to KSU, but this trip will be his first one to see the school.
“I have not seen the campus yet,” Pizzurro explained. “I am excited to see what the college is like and meet the head coach and the offensive line coach.
Pizzurro has kept some open dates in January for official visits in case any other suitors come calling down the home-stretch.
