While he didn't make a giant splash during the early part of the recruiting process Mark Myers…
Myers Has An Awesome Visit
One of the top players coming into Pittsburgh in the Class of 2010 is quarterback Mark Myers of Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius. At 6-foot-4, 200-pounds the signal caller knows the Panthers are losing senior Bill Stull but have Pat Bostick returning. How was the official visit? "It was awesome, I had a great time, and most of us arrived around 3:30 on Friday afternoon and went to the players lounge to hangout. From there we went to the hotel and got ready to go out with our host to Dave & Busters while our parents went to dinner with our parents." With Friday being more laid back, Myers said Saturday was full of excitement. "We went to the basketball game on Saturday and then went to Heinz Field where they had an area for us to have dinner as a group. The food was awesome and they fed us way too much." As for his host Mark had the chance to learn more about what to expect once he gets on campus. "Pat Bostick was my host. He's a great guy who loves football and is real smart. I feel he'll be a mentor to me when I get on campus so it will be great." One of the things that impressed Mark the most was his meeting with Coach Frank Cignetti Jr. "Sunday morning we had one-on-one meetings about what it would be like at Pittsburgh. I got to sit down with Coach Cignetti to see what it's like to be a quarterback at Pitt." Coming off a very successful season has head coach Dave Wannstedt excited about his next class. He made sure those on their official visits knew this and stressed them making a spring visit. "Coach Wannstedt said he can't wait to see us in the spring and hopes we come down for a couple of practices." After watching the Panthers the week before battle Cincinnati, Mark can't wait to get on campus. "The Cincinnati game was a great game and the atmosphere around the stadium was great and wild. It was hard to watch the outcome at the end but the team gave everything they had." Mark stresses he's solid with his verbal pledge and has already got all of his academic work in order. He's already got his application into the school and is waiting for summer to come so he can report and take a couple of classes this summer. "The quarterback position is all about competing so we'll see what happens when I get there. But I'm excited and ready to get there and work hard."
