Matt Deiana is proof positive that big things can come in small packages as the 5-foot-7, 190-pound running back from Somers High School benches 405 pounds, squats 600 pounds, boasts a 32-inch vertical leap and is now hearing that Wisconsin could be offering.

“Right now I’m not talking to Delaware, Villanova, Temple, Syracuse or Princeton anymore,” Matt Deiana wrote. “I have been talking to Connecticut, Wisconsin and Colgate lately though. I have offers from Army, Colgate and Sacred Heart and Wisconsin’s running backs coach John Settle called me on Friday and said that if they don’t get the smaller running back they offered by January 1st that they would then offer me that scholarship.”

As a senior, Deiana carried the ball 120 times for 1227 yards, 16 touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He also had seven catches for 103 yards. On defense, he had 51 tackles, seven sacks and a safety. He also returned five kickoffs for 193 yards and a touchdown. He played in nine games.
