Ed Fink talks official visit
"My official visit to Kansas was awesome," said Ed Fink. "I loved it. We got in on Friday and went to the football complex. The Athletic Director gave us a short speech. It was really cool. We then went to eat. "We went out with our hosts that night. My host for the weekend was Kale Pick. He was really cool to hang out with this weekend. He is a good guy. Fink gave more of a play-by-play of the weekend. "We woke up early on Saturday," he said. "We had breakfast at the student union building. They showed us the academic buildings and met academic advisors. It was really cool to see how much tutoring you get and how dedicated they are to making sure you get a good education. "We went to the Kansas basketball game. That was a really cool experience. We then ate lunch with everyone. We toured the facilities. We saw all the strength and conditioning stuff. We toured the locker room and watched a highlight video. We met with our position coaches, then toured the campus. We went back to the hotel and took a nap. "That night we went to have dinner. We all met in a big room. It was just us and the players. There weren't any coaches. We were able to ask them questions. I sat with Tim Biere and another player. We then all ate. 'I went out with Kale Pick the rest of the night. The next morning we had breakfast, and I spoke with coach Gill for about 20 minutes. That was about it." Fink talked about the meetings with the coaching staff as well. "Coach Torbush is a really cool guy," Fink said. "He is a really good Christian guy. I'm in F.C.A., so that is really cool. He is family-oriented. He is really good about academics. He made sure to tell our parents their kids are getting a good education. He said the parents turn their kids into young men. He is going to help make us better men while we are at Kansas. "I can't say enough about coach Gill. He is very easy to like. He is a great guy. He is also affiliated with F.C.A. He always said a prayer before each meal. He has a great background. He wants to make the football team a dynasty his first year. I have complete faith in him." Fink gave his overall thoughts of the new staff and the level of his commitment to the Jayhawks. "I like the staff a lot," he said. "I feel real comfortable with them. I was real iffy about my commitment before I went on my visit, but now I feel very comfortable. The staff is great, and I think they are good coaches." Fink wrapped up his conversation by discussing the best part of his trip. "I would say the best part of my visit was meeting coach Torbush and coach Gill," he said. "I was very excited to see those guys. I was extremely impressed with them. That was the best part of the trip for me."
