"I am really excited about that game," added Shon Coleman. "Me
and Damien Robinson are leaving on Sunday. There will be a lot of competition,
and I have to go in there with the right frame of mind so I can do good."
What are his expectations for the Army All-American game?
"I just have to go in there and have fun. I will do good as long as I am
having fun."
Shon participated in the MS/AL All-Star game and started at right tackle. What
are some area of improvements he saw he needed to work on after competing against
Alabama's best?
"Really, just everything in general. I need to get my weight and strength
up, and I need to get a lot faster ."
The Olive Branch product sat out a few practices for the MS/AL All-Star game
due to a sore knee that he had surgery on this past summer. How is the knee
feeling right now?
"It is doing good. I am in the stage of rebuilding it and getting the strength
back. I am about 85% right now, but it feels good enough to play in the game."
The dead period started on December 21st, but that did not stop three schools
from dropping by his house the week leading up to the no contact period.
"Memphis, Ole Miss, and Tennessee came by. Memphis brought in their new
head coach, Larry Porter. He told me how much they needed me and things like
that. Ole Miss brought over their offensive line coach, Mike Markuson, and their
offensive coordinator, Kent Austin. They were basically telling me the same
things. Tennessee brought over their offensive line coach , and he told me that
I could come to Tennessee and play early because of their depth situation. They
do not have many offensive linemen coming back."
What stands out about the Vols?
"I just like the depth they have on the offensive line."
And Ole Miss?
"The same thing as Tennessee. They need some offensive linemen."
What is going on with Miami?
"I am going to take a visit to Miami. I just don't know the date. I have
to sit down with Coach Samsel about that. I will have to take some midweek visits
because there are only three weekends left for me to visit after I get back
from San Antonio."
What stands out about the Hurricanes?
"I just like their history of winning championships. Coach Joe Pannunzio
is recruiting me. He is cool and pretty laid back too."
Where does his Auburn commitment stand?
"I am still committed to Auburn and everything. We are still talking."
Which dates are set to take a visit on?
"I am going to Tennessee on January 14-16. I am supposed to be going to
Auburn January 21-23 or 28-30. I do not know yet."
Will Shon visit Miami and Ole Miss?
"Yea, well, Ole Miss, I still have to sit with Coach Samsel and have a
talk about that. I have not decided. I just have to see what all Coach Samsel
has set up for me."
What will be the main factors in Coleman's final decision?
"I just want to go to a good school in general. That's all."
