CB Rashad Knight headed North this weekend
Posted Jan 14, 2010
The Jacksonville (FL) native is one of the more sought after corners in the south. He sports offers from Michigan, Auburn, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Illinois, West Virginia, Rutgers and Vandy but only three are still under consideration. To find which schools are still in the race, click below.
"I have narrowed it down to Michigan, Ole Miss, and Rutgers," added the Trinity Christian Academy star.
Knight visits the Wolverines this weekend.
"They are an up and coming team. They are going to give you plenty of opportunities to play and play early, and plus they have great tradition. They are always good."
The following weekend
will head up to see Rutgers.
"I probably talk to Coach (Ed) Pinkham the most. They also give you plenty of playing opportunities. They like to play their freshmen. They went from nothing to a great program too. They have been on the rise for a while."
The last visit in January will be to Ole Miss.
"First of all, they are in the SEC. It is the best conference in the country so they play against the best competition. That is a plus, and they also give you an opportunity to play early, and they always have a good team. That is a plus. I just want to come in and take a visit and see what it is like."
What will be the important factors when it comes decision time?
"First of all, I will talk to my mom and dad and go where we all feel I would be the most comfortable for the next four to five years. Can I see myself living in that area? Then the academics will be a part of it. I also want to look at the stability of the coaching staff. Look at USC and Tennessee. I do not want to be caught up in that kind of situation. I am really looking at who is stable."
Which schools seem the most stable?
"Well, out of the three, I would say Ole Miss and Rutgers. They are pretty much equal, more so than Michigan."
Where does mom and dad want Knight to go?
"I would say, well, they like all three, but my mom likes Ole Miss or Rutgers. My dad said he will let me made the decision and has not said too much right now. Both of them will be coming with me on my visits so all three of us will be learning a lot about all of those schools while we are on those trips."
Knight was named 1st Team All-State at cornerback after picking off 7 passes and taking back two of them to the house. He also totaled 60 tackles at the left corner position. Rashad capped the season off by picked off a pass in the North/South Florida All-Star game.
