"Quentin Saulsberry was my host," said Griffin. "He's a nice guy. I am really going to enjoy running behind him. He showed me a good time.
"We got to hang out around campus, hang out together at the hotel and we got to see the gameday locker room. That was the best part to me.
"My family got to every where with me and they got to be there when I tried on my jersey for the first time. Those jerseys are super tight. That was my favorite part of the whole trip."
Nick had let the Bulldog coaching staff know ahead of time his plans to commit, so Coach Dan Mullen had him make a public announcement at dinner on Saturday.
"Coach Mullen gave me a signal and I got up," said Griffin. "Chad Bumphis got everyone's attention and I had to tell everybody I was committing to Mississippi State.
"They told me Chad Bumphis did the same thing last year and that he cried and everything. I didn't cry when I did it though. (Laughs)"
Earlier on Saturday, Nick and his fellow recuits were able to attend the Bulldogs basketball win over the University of Georgia.
"We were all standing in the tunnel and I was in the back," said Griffin. "Everybody just started walking and I followed them. We went out there and the crowd gave us a standing ovation. It was unexpected. I didn't know what was going on.
"We were all talking later about how loud it's going to be in that football stadium next year when we get in there."
With his college decision now behind him, Nick looks forward to some more restful nights.
"It's a big relief to have this over," said Griffin. "I am going to be able to sleep at night now.
"I am excited about Mississippi State. All of the best players in Mississippi are going to be Mississippi State and I wanted to be up there with them. We are all going to be on the same team now and we're going to win for Mississippi."
