Lewis Enjoys Weekend Visit

3A state championship game hero Jameon Lewis took his official visit to Mississippi State this weekend. The Tylertown standout was excited about the chance to see many of his future teammates and get to know some others he might be able to convince to join him on Dan Mullen's roster.

"LaDarius Perkins was my host to start, but he had a family emergency," said Lewis. "I ended up being hosted by Charles Mitchell. He hosted me and Matthew Wells both. We were all hanging out together last night.

"All of those guys up there are real close. They have a lot of love for each other."

Lewis reports he has a hard time picking a highlight of the weekend.

"All of it was great," said Jameon. "There is just so much there. They showed me that there is a lot to do there when you are done with your studies.

"They have a big building that has an indoor track and like three basketball goals. (Sanderson Center). You can shoot basketball, you can swim or just do whatever. I really like that."

The corner to be was on hand to cheer the basketball Bulldogs on to victory over the visting Georgia Bulldogs.

"Coming out of that tunnel was amazing," said Jameon. "That made me feel really special. Some of those people already knew our names. This one guy said he saw my highlight video on the internet and he couldn't wait for me to be a Bulldog. That was cool."

In addition to being hosted by the MSU coaching staff, Lewis was working the crowd of official guests trying to get them all to be Bulldogs.

"I didn't have to work too hard because after all the fun we had everybody said they were coming to Mississippi State," said Jameon. "I was with Carlos Thompson last night and we had so much fun. I don't even know what else to say. It was all just so much fun."
