MS All-Star OL Makes Decision
Posted Jan 17, 2010

For Melvin Meggs the recruiting process was a post season endeavour. A strong senior season resulted in a handful of college options for the talented offensive lineman. After taking an official visit this weekend, he has elected to accept one of those offers.

"I visited South Alabama this weekend and I committed," said Meggs. "We got to meet the coaches and tour the campus. It was all good."

The official visit was just what Melvin needed to make his decision.

"I really like the atmosphere there," said Meggs. "It's a lot like Petal. Everybody treated us good while we were there."

Part of the weekend allowed the Jag fans to strut their stuff as they cheered on their basketball team against an in state rival.

"We went to the basketball game against Troy," said Melvin. "They had a lot fans there. They really get into it. That was a lot of fun and good to see."

In the end an academic attraction snared the attention of Meggs.

"They have a good business program and they just took me in and made me feel at home there," explained Melvin. "I believe South Alabama is where I need to be."

Meggs chose the Jags over offers from Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, UL-Lafayette, ULM and Samford.
