Peterson Staying In State

Lawrence Peterson is one of the top linebackers in the Memphis metro area. Like many of his peers, Lawrence had some thinking to do when it came to his college future. After taking an official visit this past weekend, the hard hitting defender has made his decision.

"I committed to Tennessee State on my visit," said Peterson. "I thought it was the best place for me. I looked at the roster and I think I can get some playing time as a freshman."

Peterson chooses TSU over offers from Hampton, Texas Southern, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Tennessee-Martin.

"I was going to visit Hampton and UT-Martin, but I am not going to know," said Lawrence. "My coach graduated from Tennessee State. I didn't know that until today, so he's real happy about me going up there."

Another member of the Melrose staff will make the move from Memphis to Tennessee State this next season.

"One of my coaches is going up there to be the defensive coordinator, so that made it even better for me," said the talented linebacker. "My family is real happy about my decision."
