Daniels Has Plethora Of Offers

The St. Xavier linebacker has racked up an early list of offers from FBS schools. Scout.com caught up with him to get the latest on his recruitment.

Steven Daniels has gone under the radar so far on recruiting services, but that hasn't stopped colleges from noticing the 6'1" 220 pound linebacker from St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH).

"First off I'm just blessed to do what I can on the field and it's a blessing from God," Daniels told Scout.com. "I just play fast and play smart and just work on my reads a lot at backer. That's pretty much it."

Several universities have indeed noticed Daniels, as he already boasts an impressive early offer sheet.

"I have six offers. Boston College, North Carolina State, Indiana, Louisville, Cincinnati and West Virginia all offered. Indiana was first and my coach told me about it. Then West Virginia was second, and my coach told me about it and I called the guy, Coach Dunlap, he's a pretty good guy. Then the others sent letters and I talked to UC on the phone and they offered and I talked to Coach Strong at Louisville on the phone and I talked to him and he offered."

While still early in the recruiting process, Daniels has two of the schools in mind as some of the top dogs on his leaderboard.

"I really like Louisville and Boston College a lot, but they're all at about the same level. If they're had to be a leader, I'd say Louisville and Boston College are at the top. Coach Strong has the experience on defense and he's a pretty smart defensive coordinator."

While holding those six offers, Daniels is also hearing from some of the upper echelon programs in the nation as well.

"Oregon has been sending a ton of stuff lately, so has South Carolina, Ohio State and I got one thing from Alabama and The U of Miami. But Alabama, I really wish they would start talking to me more. My family is from Alabama."

Daniels has also been able to unofficially visit to prominent Midwestern schools, his home state Buckeye's and further north Wolverines.

"I've been up to Michigan, I forgot to mention them as someone I'm really interested in, I went up to Michigan for the Ohio State game and Ohio State game for the USC game. Michigan was really nice, especially going up there when it was the rivalry game. I've never seen anything like it, except for Ohio State because that was just sick against USC."

Even with family from Alabama, and a heavy early interest in the Crimson Tide, Daniels is adamant about keeping his options open in his recruitment.

"I'm open to anything. I'm just trying to use the gifts God gave me and do something with them. I've been talking to a few people and me and my cousin, Antonio Poole from Winton Woods, were talking about going to a few camps.
