Spanish Fork (Utah) offensive lineman Isaac Asiata didn’t need to spend a longtime in the recruiting process to know where he wanted to go.
The 2011 prospect, who’s on the Scout 300 Watch List, committed to the home-state Utes.
“I committed to the University of Utah,” said Asiata. “It’s just where I've always wanted to go. I love the program, the coaching staff and I just know that it’s where I belong. But I'm stoked. I love the U. It really is an honor to be offered. I love it. There’s nowhere else I want to play.”
Asiata can play tackle or guard, and know he’ll play on the offensive line, but no place has been specified.
“They didn't really say but from what me and (Coach) Jay Hill have talked about, I will most likely be a right guard,” said Asiata.
Asiata said he’s thrilled to be playing close to home.
“My older brother is the biggest Ute fan and my mom is exited. She hasn't missed any of my games in seven years,” said Asiata.
Asiata said he delivered the news to the Utes coaches on an unofficial visit.
“I committed to (head coach) Kyle Whittingham. Blake Miller and Jay Hill. We just had a big meeting in Coach Whit’s office,” said Asiata.
