Gabe Wright talks of Alabama visit
"Everything went great," said Gabe Wright. "I couldn't ask for a more enjoyable time. It was one of the best Junior Day visits I have been on. "There weren't a ton of people, but it was really good. The academic part was kind of boring, but you have to get it done. We got to spend time talking to the players and the coaches. "I was real surprised I was able to spend time with Marcell Dareus," he said. "The coaches have said we are the same type of player. He is a really cool guy. We actually went in a room with the players and were able to ask them questions. "Phillip Sims, John Fulton and one of the All-American guards [Barrett Jones] was in there. That was fun. I knew it would be. We joked around, talked about girls, class and pretty much everything. We talked about fall camp and Scott Cochran. I liked that they kept it real with us. They were in our same spot a few years ago." The Georgia native enjoyed spending time with the coaching staff as well. "Coach Saban met with Isaiah [Crowell] and I," Wright said. "He gave us the option to meet separate or together, and we said we were comfortable going in together. He asked us if we had any questions and not to be shy. "He talked about some of his philosophies and traditions at Alabama. He said this was just the beginning. He plans to be at Alabama for a long time. He wants Alabama to dominate like they did when Bear Bryant was the coach. "I also spent time with coach Smart, coach Sunseri and coach Davis. I watched film with coach Davis, and he went over some stunts they do. He is a very technical and fundamental coach. He knows there is always room for improvement. "They have about the same facilities as Florida. Alabama has the biggest weight room though. Overall I would say Alabama's facilities are better because they have the Heisman and National Championship trophy on display." Wright has received 26 scholarship offers with the latest from Louisville and Michigan. He is not in any hurry for a decision. "I really have to be careful," he stated. "You can't base your decision off emotions. I am really high on Alabama right now. I just have to weigh my options. I have a lot of schools to consider. "I am open to all schools, but Alabama is on top. I love the tradition. I went there last year for the Arkansas game. I heard Bear Bryant talk on the highlights, and I fell in love. I wanted to put on a jersey and go play right there. It would be great to hear it every week."
