Arie Kouandjio, four-star offensive tackle from Hyattsville-Dematha Catholic, Md., has given his commitment to Alabama. Kouandjio chose the Crimson Tide over several scholarship offers including Southern Cal, New Mexico and Maryland.

"I committed to Alabama," said Arie Kouandjio. "I made my decision last night. I told the coaches last night."

"I talked to coach Sal [Sunseri], coach Pendry and coach Saban. They were really excited about my decision. I am excited as well.

"Throughout the whole process I did a lot of studying when it came down to it was down to Alabama, USC and New Mexico. Then it came down to USC and Alabama. Alabama won with the distance factor.

"I love the coaching staff, the support and the fans. I love the environment. I just love everything about Alabama.

"I have a great relationship with the coaches. I have been talking to them for a long time. It made me feel comfortable with my decision."

Kouandjio didn't know his college destination until recently.

"I started feeling Alabama last Friday, maybe Thursday," said Kouandjio. "I took my official visit to USC just to make sure. When I got home I knew Alabama was my choice.

"My family is very excited for me. Cyrus likes my decision as well. He is happy for me. He will be looking at Alabama. He plans to take all of his official visits."

Alabama recruited the Maryland native to play tackle.

"They want me to come in and play right tackle," he said. "They have said they could move me to left tackle though.

"I have athleticim. That is my best strength. I would like become a little bit more athletic though. I am currently 6-foot-5, 320-pounds."
