ScoutTV: Trent Sewell

You would think that with the 2010 recruiting class basically put to bed we would be hard at work on the 2011 class. It's true, but we also have an eye out to those rising sophomores that colleges have already targeted. In the greater-Seattle area, one of those 2012 rising stars is Trent Sewell, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound WR/FS prospect from O'Dea High School.

Sewell had eight catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore for the Irish, good enough for All-Metro Second Team honors. It was just a glimpse into what's expected for Sewell in 2010.

Sewell is the son of O'Dea track coach Colan Sewell, who ran for Washington State in college. Trent definitely got the sprinter's gene, as he currently runs a reported 10.6 100.

In fact, Sewell's size and speed are reminding many at O'Dea of another recent Irish grad who expects to be a first-round draft pick in April - USC's Taylor Mays.

"When he got to O'Dea, a lot of people started calling him 'Mini Mays'," Colan told Scout.com Saturday.

Word got out on Trent early due to his 2009 season, and one Pac-10 team - UCLA - has already offered a scholarship, according to Sewell.

Sewell is already very aware of the recruiting process, having taken unofficial visits to UCLA and USC this past summer. He's expected to unofficially visit Arizona, Oregon and Oregon State at some point soon.

Even though he'll only be a junior this fall, Sewell already looks to be one of the real explosive prep players to watch out for in the state of Washington.
