The 6-3, 215-pound WR, Junior Pomee, from Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde, does well at the 7-on-7 and schools are well aware of him...

For the 2010 recruiting class, Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde was known well in recruiting circles as the home of the nation’s premier defensive prospect, Ronald Powell.

Though Powell's recruitment is over, having committed to Florida, the talent well hasn’t dried up for Rancho Verde.

The offensive side of the ball boasts several standouts, with receiver/tight end Junior Pomee the big name.

Pomee, who stands 6-3, 215 and who's first name is Kapelii was one of the premier performers this past weekend at the Badger/New Level 7on7 in Las Vegas.

He used his big frame, soft hands, and deceptive speed to go along with his physical nature to score ten touchdowns in the tournament.

So it’s no surprise that several schools are interested in Pomee, who already owns a pair of scholarship offers.

“I now have two offers,” said Pomee. “I had one from UTEP, and then I got one from UCLA. Coach (Rick) Neuheisel told me he wanted to offer me. I call Coach Neuheisel on the phone and we talk a lot. He’s a good coach.”

Aside from the Bruins and Miners, Pomee is hearing from a host of schools.

“I’m hearing from a lot of schools, like Colorado, USC, and I went to their Junior Day last weekend, and Coach (Urban) Meyer from Florida on the phone,” said Pomee.

With Powell, his teammate, a Gator, Florida is making a push for Pomee.

“Florida is showing a lot of interest in me,” said Pomee. “They’re talking about me coming out there and going to check them out in April and meet the coaching staff and we’ll go from there about an offer. My relationship with Ronald is really good. I like playing with him. Everywhere we go, we play real well. We go together. He’s my boy.”

But Pomee said that UCLA stands out on his leaderboard.

“UCLA is my top school,” said Pomee. “They’ve been coming at me since the beginning of my sophomore year when I first had a chance (to be recruited). I got my letter from UCLA and I was happy. I thought that was one of my future schools when I was younger and I’ve loved them.”

Pomee said he wouldn’t be surprised to make an early decision to the Bruins.

“Oh, I could see myself committing there early,” said Pomee. “That’s my school, I love that school and that’s why I want to go there. Coach (Wayne) Moses is the one recruiting me. I went to UCLA for their Junior Day and I had so much fun over there just talking to Coach Moses and Coach Neuheisel and talking to all of the players.”

Pomee, who’s very similar in style to current UCLA tight end/receiver Morrell Presley, said he has a preference to what he wants to play but he’s open to anything.

“I want to play wide receiver, but if not, I’ll be happy with tight end,” said Pomee. “I just want to be able to catch the ball and be a possession guy.”

Pomee said he’s got five schools that he likes, in order.

“It’s UCLA first, then Florida, then USC, then UTEP and then Boise State,” said Pomee.

Pomee said he’s trying to get to 225 by the start of the season next fall.

“That’s my target right there,” said Pomee. “I want to hit the weights, practice real had and try to get set to play.”

Academically, he has a 2.8 GPA and will take the SAT next weekend.
