Ford Working Hard for Offers
Offensive lineman Phil Ford from Bishop Miege High in Kansas City, Ks., took a visit to Kansas for the Jayhawks Junior Day, where he found out some interesting news. "They told me that once I get down to 340 pounds that I should be getting an offer," Ford reported. "We are going back out there for the spring game in April and I have been working real hard to get there by then." Last we checked Ford was about 6-foot-5, 355, but a new regimen where he has taken on extra sessions in the morning time has helped him to start to trim it down closer to his goal and a hopeful offer. "I have been working out every morning at 6:15 or 6:30 all the way until it is time to get ready for school at 7:30," Ford explained. "My coach also put me on this diet and it has been helping a lot. I have been eating a lot of yogurt and salads." "We have been working out with weights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and we have been working on running and other drills on Tuesday and Thursday." Kansas is not the only school monitoring Ford as he has received interest from programs like Kansas State, Wisconsin, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Houston and TCU. "I will be going up to Kansas State on the 27th (March) for a camp and I will be checking out the campus and everything while I am there," Ford said. "Oklahoma and Missouri have also been showing some interest. Coach (Bob) Stoops and coach (Jay) Norvell both stopped in here to see Justin (McCay)." As a junior in 2009 Ford earned All-District and All-Class honors while helping to lead Bishop Miege to a State Championship.
