J. Tribble, quarterback from Ardmore, Ala., is receiving attention from schools across the region…
Coach Spotlight: J. Tribble, Matt Peebles
"Matt's played extremely well," Brown said of Peebles. "He's a kid with a lot of potential with good size. We use him in the Y at tight end, never attached." Peebles, 6-3, 220, had an outstanding junior season making 82 catches for 935 yards. That brought in a lot of attention despite the team only faring 1-9 a season ago. "He's got great hands," Brown said, "and with his size he makes a big target for our quarterback to throw to. He's hard any cover man to deal with." Brown thinks the camps Pebbles will attend this summer are mainly in the Southeast, but that has not been decided at the present time. "I think he's close to being a Division 1 player, but an offer will probably depend on the kind of season he has as a senior," said Brown. "He has the size, does well in the classroom, and has had his nose to the grindstone in off-season conditioning. Overall, Matt's a great kid with plenty of upside." J. Tribble plays quarterback at Ardmore and likes to toss the ball around on offense as much as Coach Brown will let him. He was 209 for 379 passing for 2,113 yards and 14 touchdowns. "He's a bit of a late bloomer," said Brown of Tribble. "He can really sling the ball. I'd describe his talent as very raw at this point with a lot of potential." Tribble, 6-4, 190, has many schools interested in his services especially Vanderbilt. "J.'s done tremendous work in the classroom," said Coach Brown. "He's got a 4.2 GPA, is No. 1 in his class, and his SAT score was very high. He's a brainiac. He's also a great kid as well, fun to be around.' Tribble plans to camp at Vanderbilt this summer, but hasn't decided yet on others camps to attend before the start of his senior year. Peebles wears No. 5 and Tribble wears No. 9 for the Ardmore Tigers. If Brown gets more out of his defense this potent 1-2 offensive punch could help him turn things around quickly in his second season at the school.
