Noel Picks Up First Offer
Keenan Noel, a 6'1, 240-lb fullback/H-Back from Columbus North picked up his first offer from Ball State recently. As with all recruits, the first one is always one to remember. "We had a workout at 3:30 and I got it at about four. My coach told me. He pulled me to the side and let me and my father know." "It felt real good," he continued. "One of the first people I told was my cousin Duwyce Wilson, who is playing at IU. He told me once I got the first one, it would be a relief, but I didn't think it would be quite like that. I was so happy." Noel has played several spots, including some quarterback, but Ball State plans to use him much in the way he played last season. "They have kind of like what I play, which is an H-Back or stand up tight end and they play him at fullback too." There are, of course, schools other than the Cardinals showing interest too. "I get a lot of letters from some small schoools, Iowa's sending me letters. I went and visited West Virginia, Louisville, and Northwestern. Indiana, I've talked to them a few times. They didn't have my body type or postion, but now they are incorporating the positon, so hopefully I'll get a look for that." Noel says this season, he will play defense too, something he hasn't done since his sophomore year, but is still being recruited only as an offensive player. This summer, he will go to Ball State's camp and maybe a few others. That will build on what he's already done at junior days and game visits. "Northwestern, it wasn't a junior day. They invited Jake Reed (now an Indiana commit), and I up there to watch game versus Wisconsin. I got to go to the locker room and chill with the players, see how they do stuff, and go on the field. Louisville, we went to a game against Arkansas State and West Virginia, that was a junior day type thing."
