Justin Garrett has been to Notre Dame a couple times to watch his brother suit up for the Irish, but…
Is Garrett nearing a decision?
"I really don't keep up with my offers and all that too much," said Justin Garrett. "Georgia, Alabama, UCF, Purdue, North Carolina, Auburn, Florida State, Wisconsin, and some others have offered me. I am not sure how many I have right now." "I have been working out in the morning, going to school, going to track practice after school, and working at night most of the time, so I have not had time to keep up with recruiting that much yet." He plans to really focus on it soon though and prepare for an early decision. "I am probably going to make my decision in June or July, so I am going to try to get back over to Alabama, see Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky too. Oh yeah, all of those schools have offered me." "Once track season is over, I am going to really look at things, narrow it down, and make a decision. I could wait if I feel I need to, but I think I will be ready. I just want to get it out of the way so it is no distraction during the season." So far, the 6-foot-2, 195 pound linebacker out of Tucker (GA) has only visited two schools in 2010. He has spent time in Athens and Tuscaloosa and enjoyed both visits. "I really liked everything over at Georgia," he said. "I like the coaches there a lot, I like the speed they play with, and I just liked everything about my visit over there." "Alabama is a great place too. The stadium really caught my attention over there and football is everything to them. I liked my visit there a lot like I did at Georgia and the facilities, coaches, and team are great." At least a dozen schools are in pursuit of Garrett, but one that he would really like to be pursued by has not come after him yet. His brother Jamoris Slaughter is a rising junior at Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish have not made Garrett a target in their 2011 class yet. "It would be cool to play with Jamoris in college and if they offered, then that could play a little into my decision, but I have not really heard much from them yet. I would make the best decision for me in the end, but I would have to think about how cool it would be to play with him again. I just don't think Notre Dame is too interested in me right now though." And Garrett said he is okay with that. He has a nice list of offers to choose from now and if he does not get another one before he makes his decision, he nows he will be fine. "I like a lot of the schools that have already offered me, so I am not worried about more offers or anything like that," he said. "I have good options and I will make a good decision." "I just have to find that perfect combination of academics, football, coaches, and talent around me. Once I find that, I know that is the school for me." His teammate Chris Sanders hopes he finds all that he is looking for in Athens. Sanders was UGA's first 2011 commitment and he has been working his close friend ever since. "I hear about Georgia from Chris every day I think. He tells me how Georgia is perfect for me like it is for him, why we need to stay together, and he tells me all about Georgia. I listen, he knows I am interested, and we will just have to see if I end up at the same school as him."
