Kent State landed a quarterback commitment on Sunday from Evan Shimensky, of Kent (OH) Roosevelt. Shimensky, who received his offer the day before, wasted no time accepting it.
"I committed to Kent State yesterday," Shimensky stated. "I'm very comfortable with the coaching staff, so there was no need for me to wait. I've always wanted to play Division-I college football, and where better to play than my home town?"
As a junior, Shimensky, 6-foot, 175-pounds, threw for over 1,500 yards, with 19 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He was receiving recruiting interest from Princeton, Penn, Holy Cross and Youngstown State.
Shimensky was impressive this winter working out with Raw Talent Sports. He was also trained by quarterback guru Jim Ballard, of Air It Out, INC.
