The Terps picked up a big commit before the 2010 Spring Game…
Mulrooney Talks Commitment
Evan Mulrooney, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound offensive lineman who will most likely play guard at Maryland talked to Scout.com on Tuesday about why he picked the Terrapins. "I committed to Maryland early because I'm not really into the glamour of the recruiting process to be honest with you," Mulrooney said. "I don't need to get a bunch of offers. I was fine with one offer and two was even better. I see a lot of guys that wait to get a bunch of offers and I know I could have gotten more of them, but I saw what I wanted in Maryland and there was no point in going any further then. I didn't see the point in trying to grab any more attention for myself as that's just not my style to be perfectly frank." "Everything about Maryland was really blue collar and when I went to other schools they tried to wow me with new facilities and those type of things and when I went to Maryland I went into the weight room and just smelt the sweat and saw hard work," Mulrooney explained. "I met the coaching staff and trusted those guys right away. Coach (Tom) Bratton is from Delaware and is a guy that I clicked with and I liked Coach (Ralph) Friedgen a lot as well. I know they're going to do right by me and I'm also on the same page as they are. I also like that it's close to home, but not too close if you know what I mean. My family can still come see me play, but it gives me the opportunity to get a real college feel if that makes sense." "I'm completely shut down in recruiting now. I'm not taking any visits unless to Maryland obviously. I'm completely firm in my commitment and the next time I'll be down at College Park will probably be in the summer some time." Scout.com will be on hand at one of Mulrooney's games this season to check him out in action.
