According to Spring (TX) Klein Collins coach Drew Svoboda, spring football is a great time for his players to get the necessary looks from college recruiters. And while all the Tiger players will benefit, Svoboda feels that offensive lineman Scott Whitmore will be a player who should get a ton of interest, and possible offers from this year's spring training.
"Spring football is going to be key for him. Coaches need to see him out here working against the defense," Svoboda said about Whitmore. "He had a foot injury last season but he has overcome that and is now 100 percent. Once coaches see what he can do we could start to see more things happening."
For now, there is some movement. The 6-foot-5, 304-pound Whitmore said Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin are currently recruiting him. Without going into too many specifics, Svoboda said that there are more coaches coming by daily.
"Whitmore is getting looks from some Big 12 schools, some Conference USA schools and some Ivy programs. He is a high academic kid," Svoboda said. "There are not many coaches who come through who are not interested. Looking at his size and frame catches a lot of attention."
Svoboda describe Whitmore as a strong, physical lineman with a flat back who comes off the football.
