"Spring training has gone good," added the soft spoken Cedric Blue. "Everything is good, really. I had some nice workouts in front of the scouts and everything is looking good. We played at Rulesville in our spring game Friday. I had a lot of nice runs."
Who all was in attendance to watch the game?
"Coach (Derrick) Nix (from Ole Miss) came by. Arkansas State, Tennessee State, Memphis, USM, and MSU have also been by our school to see me practice."
Any new offers?
"The only one in writing is Arkansas State, but after the way Coach Nix was talking, I think they are about to. He stayed for the whole game to watch me play. I think they are getting close. He said he really likes the way I run the ball."
What does Blue like about Ole Miss?
"I like their school and program. Their coaches are real cool and laid back too. I got a chance to meet all of them at their Jr. Days. Plus they send a lot of players to the league. If you are from Mississippi, and want to get to the pros, Ole Miss is probably where you need to be."
The other SEC program in Mississippi is also showing strong interest.
"Coach (Melvin) Smith was here Wednesday. He came by the school a couple of times. I talk to him a lot. Their school is good too. They want me to come to a couple of camps. I went over there for a Jr. Day too and really liked it."
Memphis is just down the road.
"I just like the way Coach (Jay) Hopson talks to me. He really likes me at running back. He says I fit the description they are looking for at tailback. They think I can be a good running back in a couple of seasons at Memphis. They are going to be watching me all year. They are coming after me pretty hard."
Blue talks about his only offer to date.
"Arkansas State, they were like, the minute they saw me they said I was
their back. They like my attitude and balance. They just came right after me."
Cedric will be busy this summer showcasing his talents.
