Canton GlenOak junior safety DeShawn Hall is one of the top prospects in Ohio for 2012. Hall was off…
Is Hall Ohio's Finest 2012 DB?
Canton (OH) GlenOak has sent several players to Division-I programs in the past few years, including Ryan Palmer (Illinois), Mike Hartline (Kentucky), and Brian Hartline (Ohio State). The Golden Eagles have two more players on the roster that are among Ohio's finest for the class of 2012, in DeShawn Hall and Brionte Dunn. Hall, a sophomore starter in 2009, had a fantastic season, playing both safety and cornerback in the GlenOak system. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound, Hall is poised to have a great year for the Golden Eagles in this upcoming season. "I had a great year last year, and I really surprised myself," Hall stated. "I tried to concentrate on doing exactly what my coaches told me to do, and I was very successful letting my talents take over." "My strength is my coverage ability, and I can read what the receiver is doing, then react to the ball in the air," he continued. "I'm working on my footwork, and trying to be even quicker in my reactions. I'm known as a big hitter, and I enjoy punishing ball carriers." Even though he is still a sophomore in high school, Hall is already attracting major college interest. "I'm hearing from Pitt, Oregon and Ohio State right now," he stated. "Ohio State's (assistant coach) Jim Bollman has been to our school twice in the past few weeks, checking out Brionte and myself, even though he's not allowed to speak to us. We know they're interested in both of us." "I also like Wisconsin, and would love to hear from them," he explained. "Pittsburgh has told my coach that Brionte and I have offers, but they can't make it official until September. We both like Pitt a lot. It would be nice if we ended up at the same school, but we won't really plan that." Hall is ready to take on a leadership role with the Golden Eagles, even though he is still a young player. "Coaches tell me all the time I need to step up as a leader, because I am a returning starter," he stressed. "I can be vocal if need be, and I try to lead by example, both in the weight room and on the field."
