Mogus Stars At NUC
Geoff Mogus, Lakewood (OH) St. Edward, was one of the top performers at last weekend's National Underclassmen Combine, held in Cleveland. Mogus was impressive in the one-on-one drills and walked away with the top lineman award, shared with high school teammate Trenton Rivera. "I think I did pretty good at this combine, and I was pleased with my play," Mogus stated. "I've been lifting six days a week and working on my agility, to be better next year. I think I had a pretty good season as a junior, but I expect to be a lot better this year." His play as a junior has earned Mogus, 6-foot-4, 280-pounds, a lot of recruiting attention, and he holds several scholarship offers. "I have offers from Ball State, Toledo, Ohio University, Vanderbilt and Air Force," he reported. "I have a 3.9 GPA, and I want to study sports medicine in college." "I'm not sure how I feel about going far from home to college, because I'm pretty close with my family, but if the right school happens to be far away, that's where I'm going to go," he continued. Mogus does have a time frame in mind for making his decision, and indicated he is in no hurry to end the recruiting process. "I'm not in any hurry at all to make my choice," he stressed. "I want to wait into my senior season, to see if any of the bigger schools might offer. I'm hearing from Northwestern, Illinois and Michigan State, and a few others. Every school is recruiting me as an offensive lineman."
