Stephon Brown is an athlete that Scout named the top wide receiver at the Atlanta MVP Camp back in April. He works hard, he is a true competitor, he is well educated, and he is excited about the recruiting process.
Brown sent this to Scout and this feature tells you all about this McDonough, Ga. native.
“So far, I have been hearing from Boise State, Texas Tech, Oregon, Clemson, West Virginia, Georgia, Duke, Auburn, Maryland, Florida State, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Missouri and it has all just been a humbling experience thus far, and I appreciate every school that is in pursuit of recruiting me now, also in the future,” said Stephon Brown.
“Since winning the Top WR MVP award at Georgia Tech, I was selected to play on the Badger Sport National 7on7 team, at the University of Alabama (April 24-25, 2010). I have taken visits to the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech for Junior Days and I have had numerous college coaches to visit my school and talk with my coach about me.”
“Clemson, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, South Carolina, Southern Miss, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida State, Middle Tennessee, Virginia, and Mississippi State, just to name a few. I have also, been speed training and working out, since late November, getting ready for my senior season.”
“Recently, in our teams annual Lift-A-Thon, I maxed out, at 270 on the bench, my squat max was 385, and I dead lifted 345. Also, in a practice in Tuscaloosa, for the Badger Sport 7on7 team, I clocked a 4.52 (40 yard dash), a 4.19 (Pro shuttle), and a 6.87 (L-Drill). I really have been working hard this off season, to improve my overall skills, and just become a better football player, and get ready for the next level.”
“I have decided to attend these camps so far, (some are subject to change) Georgia, Kentucky, Clemson, Florida State, Auburn, Cincinnati, Oregon, Texas Tech, Boise State, and West Virginia, to improve my game, and get out to these college campuses, and see what all they have to offer, academically and athletically.”
“On the academic side, I hold a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and I recently, took the SAT/ACT awaiting the results. Some of the prospects on my team that are being recruited are: (Dalvin Tomlinson 2012 OL/DE), (Robert Taylor 2011 C/DE), (Josh Couch 2011 RB/LB), (James Cobb 2011 WR), and (Chris Moody 2012 QB).”
“Since my freshman year, I have always had a Divison-1 caliber receiver, to look up too and learn from. Chris Jackson ’08 (Georgia Tech), Jamal Patterson ’09 (Stanford), and Markeith Ambles ’10 (USC) have all taught me things, that I could use on the high school and college level. I have learned so much from these guys, and I appreciate them so much. Whatever program I decide to attend, I promise I will put all my hard work, dedication, and effort into whatever is asked of me, and never quit. I plan on making my college decision based on the academics, the location, the coaches, and the overall football program.”
“Hopefully, I will be selected to play in an All-American game, and get to make my decision, but If not I will make my decision in the Henry County High School gymnasium, with my friends, family, faculty, and staff.”
“This entire recruiting process is humbling, and I am truly blessed that God, gave me the talents, abilities, and oppurtinutes, no one in my family has had. I will be attending the Auburn MVP Camp, (June 20th) also, The Badger Sport, National 7on7 Tournament in July 2010. I have also been selected to participate in the Rivals.com Ultimate 100 Team, at the University of Oklahoma in July 2010. Last season, I was an All-Region Defensive Back (1st team) honors, The 2009 MVP Defensive Back Award recipient, 2009 Henry Herald AP Player Of The Week, and All County Wide Receiver (1st Team), and I lead the County in Punt Return yardage, (20.5 yards, per PR). “
“This season I will be playing slot receiver, wide receiver, running back, cornerback, safety, and I will also be responsible for the kickoff and punt return duties. I will go to college, as an athlete, and play what they need me too. My overall goals are to win a state championship, win a 4th Region Championship (In school history), play football on the next level, make my parents proud, and to prove, anything is possible when you believe.”
