Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta running back/returner and track star Jovonte Slater had an eventful weekend, literally.
On Friday night, Miller received a second offer.
"Jovonte received an offer from Navy," said his father, Dedrick.
That offer joined one from Navy's rival, Army.
Then on Saturday, Slater did a number at the CIF-SS divisional titles, leading Vista Murrieta to the D-I title.
While Slater didn't win an event, he finished second in the 100m and long jump, second in the 400m relay third in the 200m. Individually, he scored 30 points, which would have been fifth in the team standings.
The 5-10, 165-pound Slater made a big impression as a kick returner, setting a school record with two 99-yard kickoff returns for scores in 2009.
