A Leader for Garrett?
Daingerfield (Texas) Daingerfield High wide receiver Keyarris Garrett's recruitment has been heating up this spring. The 6-foot-5, 187-pound wide out currently holds five scholarship offers and more could be on their way. Houston, Memphis, New Mexico, Purdue and Tulsa have all offered the Daingerfield playmaker. In addition, TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Texas Tech have also been expressing interest. One school in particular might be close to giving Garrett his sixth offer. "Texas Tech came and saw me last week. They wanted me to run some routes for them and were probably going to offer then but it was raining, so I couldn't. But they are going to come back and I think they might offer," said Garrett. Despite the fact that it is still early in the recruiting process, one school currently stands above the rest for the Daingerfield receiver's services. "Tulsa is my top school right now. They have really been coming at me hard everyday telling me how good I can be and how I can be an All-American in their offense." Garrett previously visited Tulsa for their spring game as well as Houston, Arkansas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State for their junior days. He plans to visit Tulsa, Baylor, Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech to participate in their camps this summer. It's no surprise why so many coaches are trying to land the Daingerfield playmaker's signature. At 6-foot-5, he creates a lot of mismatches. With his large frame, he can easily go up and get the jump ball. He also possesses good hands and can be used as a red zone threat. As far as a final decision is concerned, Garrett plans on making one sometime this summer. "I plan on making it in the middle of June or early July. I want to get it over with before the start of my senior season so I don't have to worry about it anymore." He finished his junior season with 401 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
