Trey Gissett, defensive end from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Ga., is a fan of the SEC, and a fan of one SEC team in particular. The 6-5 and 230-pound prospect has received many calls in the last few weeks, and one SEC program is on the verge of tendering a scholarship offer.
"
Mississippi State
said they were gonna offer soon," said
Trey Gissett
. "Coach (John) Hevesy said as soon as they get off the road from recruiting that I'd have an offer from an SEC school. We've talked about my best fit for their program, and a lot of other detailed information.
"A lot of schools have been recruiting me lately. I talked to
Purdue
yesterday. Coach (Brian) White at
Florida
said he thinks I can definitely play in the SEC. He wants me to come down there for their camp in June to show them what I've got. I've also gotten calls from
Georgia
,
Middle Tennessee
, and
Wake Forest
."
Alabama
still leads for the Middle Georgia prospect. He has nothing but positive things to say about his lifelong leading program. He would strongly consider a quick commitment if the Crimson Tide were to offer.
"If they (Alabama) offered I'd talk it over with my family first," he commented. "I'd most likely commit if they offered. I've liked Alabama since I was a little kid. My dad is from Birmingham, and he's a big reason that I'm such a big fan of them.
"I like Coach Saban, of course. They're setting themselves up for many more championships to come. I like just about everything about their program. I'll be at their premiere camp in June."
Gissett has added a program to his favorites list, and he has rearranged the others.
"Put Florida as my number two school," he commented. "UGA (Georgia) is number three.
Georgia Tech
is four.
Florida State
is at number five."
Gissett possesses extremely long arms, and he moves very well. His height, length, and athletic ability will provide him with a number of options on the next level. He totaled more than 30 tackles for a loss last season and eight sacks. Look for him to become one of the top defensive end prospects in the Peach State this fall.
