Damarcus James holding steady

Damarcus James, running back from Demopolis, Ala., was the leading rusher in the state last fall. Three scholarships and counting for one of the state's best prospects.

"I have offers right now from Troy, UAB and South Alabama," said Damarcus James. "Mississippi State, Arkansas State, Auburn and Alabama are showing interest. I don't really think anyone except Mississippi State is close to offering me.

"I don't really have any plans for the summer. I'll just be working out and stuff like that. I don't have any camps in mind. I will probably try to take a few visits though."

The 5-foot-9, 220-pound prospect talked about spring training.

"It went all right," he said. "I was out there trying to work on everything. We played Meridian and another team from Mississippi in the spring game. Meridian beat us 14-0, and we tied in the other game. I didn't have many carries in the game against Meridian, but I had over 100 yards in the other game."

James is not listing any favorite schools.
