Jonathan Rose, the 6-foot-1.5, 175-pound four-star cornerback from Leeds, Ala., says he plans on making a decision at the end of July and admits that Auburn and Alabama are the teams to beat. Rose, ranked as the No. 12 cornerback in the country by Scout.com, favors the Tigers and Tide solidly over Tennessee, Georgia and Southern Miss. All have offered as well as Florida State, Memphis and Mississippi State. "Alabama and Auburn are recruiting me the most," Rose said. "They've really trying to get me to come there." In fact, Rose was just at Tuscaloosa attending an Alabama camp (June 6-7). "The camp was great," he said. "I felt like I did well and learned some new things. Coach Nick Saban taught me some new coverages and also some new footwork drills that they do." Rose says he ran a 4.48 forty at the Tide camp. He also plans to attend an Auburn camp later this month and he'll be attending camps at Tennessee and Georgia in July. "I grew up loving Auburn (dad is former Tiger safety Charles Rose)," he said. "The new coaches seem really nice, but I haven't met them all yet. "I like the program though," he said. "I really look forward to going there and meeting everyone and just seeing it all again." Rose attended an Auburn Junior Day earlier this year. He also attended the Alabama Junior Day as well. The camps he's attending at Tennessee and Georgia will be his first time at each school. "I haven't met the head coach yet," he said about Tennessee's new head coach Derek Dooley. "But I've talked with (defensive backs) coach Terry Joseph and (linebackers) coach Lance Thompson. They're good guys and I'm still trying to learn more about the program and stuff there." Rose admits he also has a good relationship with Georgia (defensive line/recruiting coordinator) coach Rodney Garner. "Coach Garner is a great guy," he said. "This is gonna be my first time at Georgia, so I'm excited about visiting them." Although Rose said that Alabama and Auburn are neck-and-neck, the smart money is on the Tigers winning this race. "I want chemistry between me and the coaches," he said about what he's looking for in a program. "It needs to be a good environment and feel like home. I want to be around good guys that I'll like being around for four years." Rose plans to major in business and reports a 3.0 core GPA and 17 ACT. He is retaking the ACT on June 12.
