"I just felt like it was that time," Bridgewater said. "I've been talking to the coaches at Miami a lot and they basically explained to me that I'd be the only quarterback in this year's class. Not that I wouldn't wanna compete with someone else but to me, that shows that they were putting a lot into me. They were completely committed to me so I thought it was time I commit to them."
Bridgewater, 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, was excellent as a junior last season and was made a priority by Miami from day one.
"I got recruited by schools from all over the country but no one showed me more love than Miami," he said. "They're close to home and I really like what Coach Shannon's been doing with the program."
Bridgewater says his relationship with offensive coordinator Mark Whipple played a role in his decision.
"Me and Coach Whipple talk a lot and get along real well," he said. "He's been around a lot of great quarterbacks and I think he does a great job. To have a chance to learn and play under him, I believe he can help me get to the next level and that's always been a goal of mine."
So what's next for the talented quarterback prospect?
"I may go to a couple camps but nothing serious," he said. "I'll be working with my teammates for most of the summer. I may still take some visits just to see what's out there but I'm totally committed to Miami."
