Homestead DL's blowing up
"I have 12 offers now and they have been coming pretty fast. Tennessee, Texas Tech, Florida State, LSU, Florida, West Virginia, Rutgers, Miami, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Wake Forest, and Ole Miss have offered me," said Chavis Akins. The schools that have offered Akins are the ones truly pursuing him at this time, but some new schools are expected to try to get in the mix in the near future. It may not matter who offers from here on out because it seems like he may know where he wants to go already. "I really love Florida State and I have thought about committing to them already, but I just going to wait a little while. I have been up to Tallahassee once already and I really like it up there. I also like James Coley as a coach and as a person. He is a real cool guy. I really just love Florida State and that may be who I commit to about the middle of the season." Mid season is when the 6-foot-4, 321 pound defensive tackle out of Homestead would like to make his decision. He wants to take a little more time to look at all of his options although the Seminoles seem to hold a big advantage right now. One of FSU's biggest rivals could give them a run at Akins though before all is said and done though. "I really do love Miami, but I kind of want to get away from here sometimes too," he said. "My cousin Marlin Barnes played for Miami and he was shot in his apartment a while ago, so I have tried to move on from that, but it is still there. At times I would love to stay home and play for Miami, but sometimes I just want to move on. I do love them though." Akins named FSU as his leader followed by Miami, LSU, West Virginia, and Florida.
