84 college coaches, including ones from seven Big Ten schools will head to Wayne State on Thursday for the Sound Mind, Sound Body camp, one of the best camps in the entire country.
These college coaches serve as both life and football coaches at the two day event, keynote speakers, and they will have a chance to see some really great talent.
The lineman group is strong. Leading the way is four-star offensive tackle Aundrey Walker from Cleveland Glenville (Ohio). The massive Walker holds multiple BCS offers including USC, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and others.
Chicago Simeon's Chris Bryant is a massive 6'5, 330-lber, who has several offers, and could project to either tackle or guard at the collegiate level.
A few other offensive tackles will come in with offers in hand. Jalen Schlachter (Corunna, Mich.) holds offers from Wisconsin, Central Michigan, Missouri, and Indiana, and the 6'6, now 300-lber will have an opportunity to earn more as he gets seen over the next few weeks.
Fellow Michigan product Ramadan Ahmeti (Lansing Waverly, Mich.) has great size at 6'5, 310-lbs, and has already been offered by Central Michigan and Ball State. An athletic tackle, he has a chance to turn some heads this weekend.
Minnetonka (Minn.) product Josh Colville has been receiving lots of D1/FBS interest, and will be looking to make the impressions necessary to earn his first D1/FBS offer. The same goes for Detroit Southeastern's Julian Smith and Inkster's Bryce Hall, both excellent high school players who are still searching for their first offer. Hall may also work out on the defensive line.
There will be a couple big time underclassmen to watch as well. Chicago Simeon's Jordan Diamond was one the best lineman at the Michigan Showcase, and appears to be a future multiple offer guy. Saginaw (Mich.) has a young 6'5, 315-lber with great potential in Demetrious Peoples.
Speaking of the defensive line, that group will have several standouts who will offer tough challenges for the offensive linemen.
Leading the way is recent Indiana commit Shafer Johnson (Southfield Christian, Mich.). Johnson is quick off the ball and plays hard, making him a handful in one on ones.
Sonny Haskins (Gary, Ind.) and Eric Crume (Detroit Central, Mich.) were two of the top tackles at the Showcase. Both are stout 300+ lb kids with nose tackle bodies.
One interior prospect we are excited to see is Detroit Denby's 6'5, 340-lb Deleon Barrett, who opposing coaches say was a tough matchup last season. Orchard Lake St. Mary's Cortez Riley is another player who had a good junior season and will be looking to create a buzz.
One of Michigan's best young defensive tackles, Detroit Renaissance's Jabari Dean, will also be in attendance.
At the end spot, the top prospect is Detroit Cooley's 6'5 Jarrell McKinney, an excellent athlete who is tough to block off the edge.
There are also a number of high profile players who could end up coming out. It is still not too late to register. Go to http://www.smsbcamp.com for more information and registration.
